Plastic flowers are composed of pigments suspended in a petroleum-based medium that are then formed into the shape of a flower. A painting of plastic flowers is similarly composed of pigments and plastic and formed into the shape of a flower. The line between art piece and object is thin. The qualities that make something look low-brow or bad taste take more work and dedication than they are given credit. My paintings sit in the in-between of fine art and craft. Classical and abstract elements; Semi-precious stones mixed with plastic; plastic flowers in a thrift store vase. My work ultimately explores waste, taste, toil and texture. They are bright, bold, and don’t hold back.
